I look into the mirror, and what is it I see?
Who’s is that reflection that’s staring back at me?
I’d say I used to stand there, in that very space,
But now the one who’s standing there is an unfamiliar face.

I see the mistakes of that person, frozen in the frame,
But tell me, is it them or I who is the one to blame?
Regrets scribbled upon the glass, scratched into the pane
What could be seen as once so humble now standing there so vain.

In that reflection I no longer see, the person I once knew.
Fading glimpses of what once was are really rather few.
In its place I see fraud and turn away in shame.
I stare at it and realise that I’m the one to blame.
