The clock showed half past eleven. Three bottles of wine lay on the table, waiting to be savoured. The four men were in a joyous mood. Hemraj had invited three of his friends Krishna, Rajkumar and Vijay for drinks and after a peg or two they were on top of the world.
"Maro Sathi, My friend switch on the television please." Vijay was pointing to the TV set, a smile glued to his face.
"Let’s watch something Nepali." He added.
Soon the television played Nepali songs and along with the tune of the music and jingling of the glasses the mood reached a higher level.
"Isn't that girl sweet?" Krishna said pointing to the television along with a gulp of wine.
A young Nepali girl twisted her hips as the song paced.
"I wish to sleep with a girl like that." Rajkumar it was now. The alcohol has started its effect.
There were giggles next as the bottles drained and the clock kept running. It was half past twelve by then.
" Raj my sathi, how about saab's daughter?" A smile, wicked enough emerged on Krishna's face.
"What say Hemu?" Vijay said finishing his last drink.
"Really? I don't mind." Hemraj always knew his friends, they were never serious. But that night had a different story...

Earlier that night...
After a long and tiring day at school Aarushi was lying on her bed. Random thoughts occupied her mind, she remembered the note she had written to her parents, 'I WILL MAKE YOU PROUD.' She thought of her ambitions in life, her birthday was nearing. She would soon complete fourteen years of her life.
"Aarushi dinner is ready." She heard her mother.
Throwing her cell phone after reading a sms on the bed she left her room. Dad was already seated on the chair, wiping his glasses while mother placed a bowl on the table when Aarushi entered.
The food tasted delicious to her. The best she had eaten in her whole life. There was no specific reason behind it, but it did. The three of them discussed their day over dinner. Aarushi told her parents about an assignment she had got, father narrated a crazy event that took place that morning and they all burst into laughter.
Soon after dinner Mr. Talvar, Aarushi's father, accompanied her to her room and to her surprise mother entered the room with a brand new digital camera.
"Happy Birthday in advance!" Her parents said in unison.
Aarushi was delighted with the present. She at once opened it and started clicking pictures. After she had clicked over a handful of snaps she hugged her parents and thanked them for the present.
Next Mr. and Mrs. Talwar retired to their room, leaving Aarushi behind in hers. She took up the camera again and one by one viewed the pictures she had just clicked. Some of them were not so good to her eyes and so she decided to delete them.
'The three mistakes of my life- A novel by Chetan Bhagat' was her read for the night. Engrossed in the book she almost forgot the world outside.
It was about eleven-thirty then. Aarushi was startled as someone entered her room, which was self locked from inside. She turned around to find her mother. She smiled so did Aarushi as her mother switched on the internet router in her room.
"Dad has some work." She said before leaving.
The door was left ajar, Aarushi noticed but then the book had taken an interesting twist. 'Will lock it before going to sleep.' Aarushi thought to herself before getting back to the book again.~

~Krishna led the troop of his friends tip-toed inside the house. Soon the four of them were standing in front of Aarushi's room. Hemraj smiled to himself as he knew the room would be locked from inside as always. Rajkumar gave a little push and the door slid to Hemraj's horror. He leaped to stop his friends from entering but it was too late by then. All four of them were standing inside the room. Meanwhile Aarushi, now deeply engrossed in reading thought it was mother again but the noises arouse her suspicion. She turned but this time instead of her mother's smiling face stood some evil men. And before she could scream Vijay leaped over her and Rajkumar gagged her mouth. Krishna was now over her on the bed. Aarushi could move no inch. Hemraj was stoned.
"Stop it" He pleaded now. But his friends were in no mood of.
"I will sleep with her tonight." announced Krishna.
Aarushi resisted.
"This girl is testing my patience now!' Krishna grunted and went back to Hemraj's room.
Two golf clubs were lying there lifelessly. He picked up one and returned back.
Aarushi was getting out of control, losing temper Krishna hit her on her forehead. He intended to just make her faint but the alcohol had again done its job. The impact was much more than he expected. Aarushi's pulse said she was near dead. Rajkumar handed Krishna a kukri and along with Aarushi's dying breath he slit her throat. The three of them then placed the items neatly on their place, rearranged the bed sheet, with all their efforts they tried to make up the crime scene.
Hemraj couldn't bear all this; he needed fresh air and ran to the terrace.
"This guy will confess and we will end up in jail." Vijay said as soon as Hemraj left.
The others agreed and leaving Aarushi's dead body behind they went up the stairs. Hemraj was standing there looking at the sky, dark it was then. Soon his world turned the same. Rajkumar hit him with the same golf club from behind and then Krishna slit his throat to make sure he was dead. The three of them then dragged his body and covered it with a cooler.
"I need some alcohol." Viraj pointed to the bar counter when they re-entered the dinning again. Krishna picked up a Whiskey bottle with his blooded hands and the three of them quenched their thirst.
Out they went though Hemraj's room. Rajkumar bolting the door from outside.
The Talvar residence fell silent, like it had never before.

The following day the media world aroused as Aarushi's dead body was discovered. A day later Hemraj's body was found lying dead on the terrace. The sensational double murder in Noida occupied the newspapers, television channels and the ordinary man's mind. It shook an entire nation.
After five years Aarushi's parents were convicted though without enough evidence. Do you think justice was denied? All parties deny killing Aarushi.
If not anyone.Then who?
