Preeti and Aakriti were best friends. Though they were tough competitors in schools but were completely different. Stephen high school was seriously a lucky school because not all school get so talented students. Both were excellent in studies and in co-curricular activities as well. Preeti was good at cycling and Aakriti in writing. Life remained smooth.
One day Aakriti was looking sad. Her mother did not fail to notice it.
“What happened dear?” Asked mother.
“Nothing much. Preeti is not answering my calls.”
“Must be busy.”
“Since last 2 days. Yes 2 days.”
“Akriti, you must go and pay a visit. Maybe she is in a trouble.”
“Do not try to take her side.”
“I am taking your side too and you two can never be in different sides. Go.”

Akriti goes to Preeti’s house.
“Aunty where is Preeti?”
“She has not told you?”
“No.”
“She has injured her self while cycling.”
“Oh I see. Can I meet her?”
“Yes ofcourse.”

Aakriti goes to the hospital to meet Preeti.
“Aakriti, you are here.”
“Yes Preeti. You are in trouble and I will not come.”
“Really thanks. My surgery will take place very soon.”
“I know.”

That night She saw her mom and aunty discussing about the money because the cost was very high. Aakriti went to her mom next morning
“Take the money. Though only rs 10,000 but for me it is everything”
“How did you get it?”
“It was my savings. I was saving it to fulfil my dream of publishing a book. My friendship is more precious than my dream. For me life meant my dream but Preeti’s happiness is more important than my life.”
Akriti found her mother in tears.
“What happened Ma?”
“I had many jewelleries which didn’t mean anything to me. I never thought of selling them and you had only one dream and you sold it. I could have easily helped but I was selfish because they could not have returned the money ever but you sold your dream. It is too kind of you.”
Preeti and her mother both were touched by this gesture. Preeti could have never returned the money as it was not the money but the dream which one had deliberately kept unfinished.
