I once remember this from the past, when I was a kid of about ten years. My dad once, received a quarter at R.K. Puram, the pocket, or any other details I don't remember at all.
Since my parents weren't so rich, they had to live in rented house till that time, and hence, they readily accepted the idea of staying in the quarter provided, hence on a Saturday, we all decided to go and check the rooms, and plan where furnitures would be set and all that.

On reaching though, the neighbours advised us not to live there, as a Christian old woman who used to live there had died, and henceforth, sounds of her comes from the kitchen door exactly at 6:00 pm still.
They told us that she used to chant her daily prayers at that instant exactly, and even when two years had already passed since her death, her sounds could still be heard, even at 8:00pm.
I was too young to understand all these, but was very fascinated to hear Ghost Sotires in reality, though parents of mine never believed them and laughed at it.

"Bhaisaab, you do come to our kitchen at 6:00pm, each day, and we shall make you hear sounds of chanting of prayers, at 7:00pm, you would hear grinding of masalas, which she used to do everyday, at these timings. Why wouldn't we want you to come? But why let you come when something is creepy?"

We learnt they were Christian, and the old woman as very good at heart, but as they say "Unki aatma ko shanti nahi mili"
Perhaps because last rites were not performed.

Well last rites are only confined to Hindus, so we were not so sure about that part. Every religion had it's own way of performing burial.
The woman died and son soon came to bury her as per customs, and went back to the South, where he used to live earlier. But the ghost of the Old Woman still haunted the house.

My parents immediately dropped the idea of staying in the free quarter provided, and went back.

A few months later, dad saw the same part which was allotted to him, now had been painted, A.C. fitted in, and new curtains around.

"We'd been fooled. They tricked us!" Was what he concluded, while coming back from his office.
But then a few days passed, and the A.C., curtains, all vanished. Possible reason = they had fled, whosoever had started liviing there, lived for a very short duration.

When he asked his friends,
"Dada, bataya tha na.. Hauntings can never be so tolerated at all, no matter how harmless desparate souls are" was what he received as the answer.
