He was sitting under the vivid moon light, lost in his own thoughts and vaguely looking at the sky. A thought crossed his mind, how does the moon survive without the stars around it? It was a question that was meant for him. The star studded sky appeared as the malicious world and the moon as himself and all the glittering and shinning stars appeared as the shimmer that has made his world a better place to live in, they symbolized the only love of his life.

He was seeing her again through the shimmering emissions of the stars. His heart stopped, skipped a beat, throat went dry, Goosebumps all over his body. This was something he felt and experienced when he saw her for the first time, walking through the lane surrounded by some girls muttering about the chemistry practical. He could still remember the way she helped her hair adjust and making the dupatta perfect. The innocent eyes and the swift working hands and the adorable smile gave a way for his heart. Her hair was, as he suspected, brown and her eyes the deepest mixture of dark brown and shades of black around. He was beaten badly by the looks of her. It was not that he never saw a beautiful girl, but this was just not a girl, it was probably his girl. Without any glitter or puffs of smoke she was gone. That left him to sinking back down and digesting one of the biggest moments of his life.

He opened his eyes to see himself all lost under the moon light. He could not believe this has happened. He tried to reason with himself, gave stupid yet possible reasons but to his avail, tears kept on rolling down. He was never so helpless in his life. Actually he was, when he understood he was in love with that girl. They used to glance at each other every now and then but there was nothing more, no nudge, no sweat. The days turned into weeks and weeks into months. After some brisk 3 months, out of the blue he got something he was looking for, a smile. It seemed like ages and it was like he was waiting for that moment for centuries. He knew he was in for an eternity of happiness.

Then they met though for some minutes but it seemed like a never ending eternity. It paved way for a romance and a saga that was entitled to be immortal. He admired her so did she, for her calm, comfortable cat like persona that she carried very effortlessly. They both thought it was love. Even she went aboard to feel the same for him and knew somewhere down the line that she loved him, had always loved him. But she was afraid of what the future might hold, it was just not her but even he who knew this, but they were in love and love was the ultimate thing that made the world turn upside down. They took their chance but was it love after all? This question banged in his head over a thousand times now when he was sitting and crying over in that moon light. Was it love after all? Yes, indeed it was, he answered over a thousand times, then why this? He stood up and looked at the sky again wondering he would find the answer.

All he thought was about the time spent with her, it was not a typical novel love story where it rained and she came with an umbrella and the umbrella flew away and all remained was her angelic face and lovely wet hair. It was a simple yet enticing love story with some luck and lots of light lovely moments spent walking hand in hand on the beach, spending a quiet warm evening under the garden shade, looking at the moon and gazing at the stars, comparing their relation with that of the moon and stars.

Time stood still when it was the two of them. Eyes locked in to each other, fingers entangled as if never would get separated and the icing on the cake was her girlish grin that would make him do anything in this world. They spoke less, smiled more and led their eyes speak more words! It was immaculately beautiful. Beautiful was the relation for more than four years which saw everything, went through thick and thin, survived the worst of the situations but yet emerged out to breathe love. It was a relation to be looked upon and cherished for the rest of their lives.

But today he was here, sitting and crying for relation that was entitled to be there for eternity, he could not have imagined this in his wildest dreams that he would face such a day in his life. He took out his cell, saw the most beautiful girl he ever knew and ever loved and will always.

He took a last look on the message that changed everything and most probably his life in particular. It read, “I m sorry. I can’t hide anything from you now, I am getting engaged tomorrow. Please take care. You’ll always be there in my prayers. Forgive me and forget me.”

He knew the world had crashed, his life battered, he knew someday this was ought to happen, he knew everything but he gave his life a chance to stand and prosper. It all went wrong and in a moment the relation paved way for an eternity of solitude and loneliness. He knew it was love all the way from the beginning and will always be love for him for his entire life. She played her part and now it was his to play. He stood up and took a last look of the shimmering sky and the moon. It will never be the same again he thought. Wiping his tears he walked into oblivion.
