Before I begin, I think it’s very important for me to acclaim that this is neither a Pro-Congress nor an Anti-Modi express. Instead, it’s just a few questions put together by a curious Indian, who, like many others, is disgruntled and disillusioned by the current political scenario – in the wake of 2014 elections.
Blood is a heavy price paid for cheap politics. But, that’s exactly the deal struck by some innocent people at the ‘Hunkaar’ rally in Patna. A mass rally was organized by the BJP starring their PM candidate at Patna on 27 October. A rally which was to have a huge crowd for audience. Actually, a crowd which was paid to be the audience, which is the truth with any political rally.
While the Star of the show went on with his speech, adding more gaffes to his credit, something else was happening in the crowd. There were blasts – aimed at human lives. These blasts termed as “minor” claimed 6 lives and injured close to a hundred (as per the news). Sushil Kumar Modi (BJP), who was called to look into the security arrangements a day ahead of the rally, goes on TV, only after the blast to sling mud on the Bihar CM. He alleges that there was a deliberate lapse in the security, claiming it to be a political agenda, pointing all the fingers at Nitish Kumar.
The allegations on the CM were proven wrong the same day, as the intelligence declares that it’s an act by the Indian Mujahidin. The actual question is, if he truly believed there were lapses in the security arrangements – why did he bring it to light only after the blasts??
In fact, the state police seem to have done a good job by not letting a stampede happen. Because, in situations like these, a stampede can claim as many lives.
Another interesting accusation by him is – the state police was not careful enough, despite the threats and alerts. Now here is the big question
- if people were expected in huge numbers
- if the security was not in place
- and most important of all, there were threats and alerts of a possible attack
Why wasn’t the rally called off ???????????????????
If you think it’s a dare-devil act by the star of the show – I request you not to be foolish. A dare devil act is when you risk your own life for a good cause, not the life of other innocent people for cheap politics. Narendra Modi enjoys z-plus category security, and is guarded by none less than the NSG and also by the Gujarat State Police. So, in the rally as well, the star of the show and his platform was well guarded and secured. But, what about the commoners, the audience. No NSG for them you see!!
So if the alerts/threats were true – it’s the aam aadmi who is at risk, as the star is well secured.
The blasts are termed to be many in number but minor in intensity. While, I believe that it would be very difficult to sneak in explosives, I don’t think it’s difficult to sneak in higher intensity explosives when one could sneak-in the low intensity ones. So, it’s interesting to note that there were minor blasts close to the dais while a blast of greater intensity could be managed as well. Won’t that be true if the star of the show really was at risk?
Hence, by letting the rally go on, they let the blasts happen. Securing only the leaders of the people, not the people. A bigger crowd ensured good number of causalities. Little did the unsuspecting men who paid with their lives know, the pivotal role they are playing in earning sympathy and greater security for the star of the show.
No doubts the ‘Hunkaar’ rally was much publicized and well promoted, but was further bejeweled by a touch of red, rather blood red.
While I just read through my piece, a wicked face comes to my mind. The wicked face is saying, “We spent a lot on this rally, so the show must go on. Let there be no lapse in security on and around the dais. If the threat is true, let the blasts happen. The blasts will claim more lives as we are flowing in a great number of people. And more deaths would only get us more sympathy. HAHAHAHA(in a bollywood villain’s voice)“
