21’st January, 2013

“It’s been 20 years you still remember?” She says. “Some chapters are never meant to be forgotten!” The lady says. “Aren’t you happy to what life has given you?” she says.
“Dear I never objected to what life gave me.” Lady says.
She says, “Than why you come here every year.”
The lady took a deep breath, looked at the young girl and said, “Because it was his wish.” She asks, “Did he know?”
A tear drop down from her eye she wiped it with her fingers she said, “From day one.”
She asks, “Than why did you?” She smiles at her innocent concerns and says, “Well I cannot answer it, someday I will tell you.”
She says, “Grandma! You do this every year, why can’t you just tell me?” The lady says, “Because you cannot handle it.” She insists, “Try me.”
Lady says, “I don’t need to.” She says, “This is disappointing, you cannot judge me like that.”
She smiles at her and says, “Well someday.” She says, “Every year you say these two words, grandma please.” Lady says, “Let’s go dear, it’s getting dark.”
She says, “Ok!”
They both got up from the bench. The old lady held her stick and walked slowly and the younger girl held her one hand and walked beside her. While walking she tried once again.
She says, “I’m still waiting.” Lady says, “On my conditions you will get to know.”

The clock stroked 10.pm
“Grandma! Do you need anything?” She asks. The lady says, “Yeah a cup of tea, it’s too cold today.” She says, “Well yes it is, I’ll bring tea to you.”
She goes to kitchen where her mother was giving instruction to the cook for morning breakfast. She opens the cabinet for the pan, took out tea bags, poured some water in the pan, placed it on stove and lights it with fire.
She asks, “Maa?” “Yes!” She says.
Before she could say it further a scream was heard from a room. They both looked at each other and rush to the lady room, both of them screamed and called for the help.
The lady fell on the floor and she was faint. They both pulled her up and placed her on the bed.
She says, “Ma! I cannot find her pulse.” “Call the ambulance.” Mother says.
In three minutes the ambulance arrived. She was placed in the ambulance; oxygen mask was attached to her immediately, the young girl insisted to her mother that she wanted to go. In next ten minutes the ambulance reaches the hospital. Meanwhile at home back the mother called her husband and told the situation. He asked about the hospital and rush towards it.
Here in the hospital, they gave CPR to the lady and got her pulse back. She was stabled. Later the doctor told his son that his mother had a heart attack. The doctor also added that at the age of 65 she just need to rest and do not take stress. The son got confused about hearing stress!
When he got done talking to the doctor he looked at her daughter and went to her.
He questioned, “Did she go there again?” She said, “She wanted to.” He strictly said, “I told you all that stop her.” She said, “But dad you know she will never listen.” He said, “You had to make her!” She said, “I was with her all the time, nothing went wrong.” He sarcastically said, “Yeah! Like it is easy to catch her emotions, I have been living with her my whole life and to this day I never catch a sad emotion on her face and you, you’re just 22.” She said, “But dad..”
He interrupted her and said, “No! Zayaan this is not done and where is your mother?” She said, “She had to something.” He asked, “Do what?” She said, “I don’t know.”
He Grinch his teeth and took out his mobile phone dial the number.
8 hours later
It was 4.am in the morning Zayaan was sleeping on the sofa. The lady slowly opened her eyes and tried to figure her out where she was, she looked at her side table for water. She tried to get up but Zayaan hear sounds of movement she woke up instantly.
She said, “Do you need anything?” Lady said, “Yes! I need glass of water.”
Zayaan pour glass of water from a jug which was placed right next to a glass. The lady drinks the water and lay down on the bed. She instructed Zayaan to pull the bed a little bit. Zayaan pulled the bed a little bit so that it could turn into a form of easy chair. The lady opened her eyes wide and asked, “What happened to me dear?” Zayaan said, “Grand Ma! You had a heart attack again.”
She smiled and said, “Hmm! And I still got lucky.” Zayaan smiled and said, “Well I guess the God wants you here more than with him.” The lady said, “Yeah! I know.”
She asked, “Are you feeling fine now?” Lady said, “No! These medicines have made me dizzy and lazy.” She added, “Does Akbar know?” Zayaan saddened and said, “He was screaming on me.”
Lady said, “When will he understand that I am getting old.” Zayaan said, “That is his way to take care of you.” Lady said, “And he should stop doing that.” Zayaan said, “Why are you talking like this?”
She took a pause and said, “I’m tired and I want peace, nobody lives forever.” Zayaan said, “But one should try to live a healthy one.” Lady said, “I had an enough of healthy life now I want to retire.”
Zayaan looked at her face and asked, “Grand Ma! What were you doing while I left the room.” Lady said, “Nothing!” Zayaan asked, “You are sounding disturbed.”
Before she could ask further a nurse came into the room and said, “Please stop talking to her she needs rest.”
Zayaan obeyed nurse call and told her grandma to sleep again and take some rest.
Zayaan looked worried she made a call to her mother.
“Hey mum! Have you cleaned grandma’s room or it’s still the same.” Zayaan said.
She said, “Yes! I have but why are you asking?” Zayaan said, “Ok! I’ll be coming home first thing in the morning.” She asked, “Is everything ok!” Zayaan said, “Yeah! I guess now it will be.”
