CLOWN

Have you ever seen a clown?
No, not me!
There he is!
A real one, the circus guy
Paid to make us laugh.
He falls,
He is run over,
Crushed and tossed,
Hurled words and tarts,
Amidst roars of laughter.
You see his acts,
And you burst out.
But have you ever sensed his fears?
And have you ever seen his tears?
Long streams of fresh hot tears,
Tearing up the silt-like mask,
Like the Nile paving its course through deserts of Egypt,
Slowly washing away its cradling filth,
Revealing a rosily human tint
Underneath that pale layer of paint.
Do you see it clearly now?
A bulb descending from the corner of the eye!
Its a new tear!
How fast it moves,
And mouths out into the open space,
And splatters onto his borrowed shoes,
Leaving behind, right under cheek,
An isle of its content.
Oh you can't see!
You are too busy
Laughing, crying
from laughter...
