Crazy are the days we spend running the rat race. People are busy doing everything in this world, everything other than living their lives. We do stop, we do ponder, but then we do not get out of the grind that binds us, to do things that we love. Its not easy to come out of this race, once you start.

We work for our future. A future that may or may not materialise. We do it because we need to have the best of things, we do it to give the best to our family. But seldom do we realise that we are ignoring the most important person in this crazy frenzied life. That person is the 'ME' that lies within waiting to be released.

A life enhancement coach once told me,"You are a piece of charcoal waiting to be converted into a diamond. You were born a diamond but then with time you have covered yourself with layers and layers of impurities of self doubt, anxiety, low self esteem and the social stigma of making the world happy. Get these layers off and you will realise your true sparkle.

I remember a friend who stayed in Mumbai. He was a great photographer and a true Artist. Although he was studying Mass Communication, he was more of a photographer than a Mass Comm student. I recall how he skipped his final exams for a small photography project he had managed to grab. His parents were mad at him and so were we. We thought that it was an erratic and immature act on his part. Today my friend is no more alive and he is remembered through his pieces of art which we called photographs. The project that he took up for which he missed his exams was a starting point for him. After that there was no looking back. He died as an Artist, a dream which he fulfilled despite all obstacles. To die is easy, to live is difficult. Its important to live our life till we are alive.

By giving this anecdote I do not intend to promote desperate measures to achieve anything. All I would like to highlight is how are true self is buried under the burden of being the person everyone around us wants us to be. We do have to live in the society and work to achieve a good life but we should not forget to actually live that good life.
