January- Resolutions! February- Love! Now what defines March? Well, something that we all dread- Exams! March is the season of exams, of tensions, of sleepless nights! Ask any student, which is the month that you hate? "March!", pat comes the reply! The March fever affects not just students, but their parents as well! Or even their siblings for that matter! (I'm experiencing it myself- the sibling part! Poor me!). No hanging out with friends, no TV, no internet, no games, no sports! Your whole and soul becomes books, books and more books!
But come to think about it, studying for exams doesn't always look the same! Back when I was in primary school say upto class 5, I hardly studied for my exams. The things said and done in class were sufficient to score well and the revisions in class were enough for any average child as well. Exams were just another part of the many activities we had in school and we were happy as and of exams meant start of holidays! Well, I don't see that these days. I see little kids running around with huge bags, lots of books and the torture of tutions after classes. Wow, I'm really lucky to have been born a few years before them!
The next stage for me was the class 6 to class 9 stage! Well, studies began a little early! There was seriousness about exams and as the years passed, the preparation got better! More tension than the previous years!
Then came the worst part! Boards! 3 years of absolute hell! Not just March, the whole of 3 years were studies, studies and more studies! Nothing else! I forgot all my interests, all my hobbies! My life was filled with books, books and more books! Physics, Chemistry, Math, Biology became my all time buddies! Boards, CET, AIEEE, JEE became my movies! Life was hell! And then finally, this stage opened the doors to the next stage! Engineering!
Everyone told me work hard till you finish class 12 and then your life's a bliss! Whoever told it was seriously wrong! Yes, in engineering we hardly study for exams! Exam preparation for internals starts the day before exams and the preparation for Semester end exams starts just 4-5 days before! But yet life's difficult with the endless projects, seminars, quizzes!
Different stages, different exams, different patterns of studying! But in this country obsessed with results, marks is what matters! So those of you who have your exams, All the best! Do well!
(P.S. Please wish me luck!I've my internals from the day after tomorrow. But I haven't started studying yet! I started browsing to download a text book, but ended up writing this! And don't forget to poll! )
