I smiled like and idiot and waved like a fool,
She waved back and went to school.
Lost in her thoughts I sat all day long,
I thought I'd write her a wonderful song.
Then I wondered if I could make the long walk,
Whether our time was there in destiny's clock?
I gathered my guts to take the first step,
I moved ahead hoping I would not slip.
I formulated a parody of beautiful lines before going to sleep,
Next morning I was told that the chances were very bleak.
For she was already with somebody new,
And this news in fact was very true.
I bring my story to an end,
Hoping someday it would have another bend.
Because I smiled like and idiot and waved like a fool,
She waved back and went to school.
