Addiction, yeah that’s the first word that comes to my mind when you say Smart Phones. I am sure it’s true for more than 50% of the population. Apple or Blackberry, Samsung or Nokia.. what’s that one thing common? Instant messenger. Ever wondered why is it called Instant? Urban dictionary has an addition to the list of nouns and/or verbs, Whatsapp.

“Your display picture on Messenger is just awesome!”, “Your status is weird today!”, these comments are common in youth’s day to day life. I am not here to pick on the technology. Associated with the tech industry, that’s my bread and butter to be precise. But where is this generation headed? What are we doing? Instead of using technology to achieve greater heights, we have become slaves to it! This question bothered me so much, I decided on “Internet Free Weekend”. Live a weekend like technology never existed! Read, write and talk to your neighbours, take a long walk down the park, listen to old music and help someone who needs you. Ask me if it comes easy, no it does not, but yeah it is definitely worth the try because it gives you something which no technology can offer; Peace of Mind.

Have you ever lost your peace of mind over a text message? I believe everyone has experienced it at some point in their life. How does something as trivial as a message makes you lose a moment of your life? A moment that you won’t be able to get back again! A moment that should have been spent pursuing your passion, following your heart! Does it sound dramatic? Well however it might sound, it’s the truth my friend. When I say that it is worth it only if the other person reciprocates your feelings, it’s all said with my experience. If the person is worth it, he/she will accept you the way you are and will respect your time as he/she respects his/her own time.

Love yourself more than anyone else can because the world will critique you no matter what you do and who you are. “He is cute but not as smart”, “She is hot but not brainy”, common isn’t it? Don’t lose yourself to all this. Live an absolute life. Relative life will drown you in an ocean of misery. Keep competition healthy, not cut throat. Do what you want in life.

Ever dreamt of flying? Well, it shows you want to be independent! I have had crazy thoughts. Thoughts wherein I am able to decide my own future! Well, I would say it gives you great joy to think of it but it’s the best case scenario. Life is never how we plan it to be. Set long term goals and strive towards it. In the process of achieving those long term goals, set the short term milestones and alter them based upon time and circumstances. Life is fun, Live it, Love it.

What is that one thing that you want to change in your life? The state of confusion! The entropy and the constant thrive for randomness. We all need some sort of pattern in life, plan of action so that we can be who we are, homo-sapiens. We are scared of changes, scared to get out of our comfort zone, scared to let go of our inhibitions and embrace the change. But I say let it go, get out of your protecting and nurturing world, let your thoughts peak and change with the world. Get a tattoo, fall in love, cry in pain, laugh in joy, streak your hair; in short paint your own world. All this to discover your true self, only with a principle in head, Have your priorities straight and don’t lose your individuality.
