Hello everyone.. It's my first post on writerbabu and I'm quite glad to be here.. Love the concept.. I picked my favourite thing to write about - Baking or rather my inspiration behind it - the mesmerising Nigella Lawson.

I love Nigella. Like loooove Nigella. I can watch her cook all day and night. Non-stop. I have watched runs and reruns of all her tv episodes. She's magic. The ease with which she cooks is just amazing. She's one of the those very few TV chefs who isn't pottering about the kitchen with ingredients and processes Nazi style! With her, it's about enjoying the journey of cooking and not just the end-result. Though her end results too are mouth-watering.

It's become a cliche to discuss her in terms of her looks. But it's difficult not to. She has creamy, flawless skin, lustrous hair, a fabulous figure and dazzlingly white teeth. Beautiful. And this seduction is very distinct in her approach towards cooking too.

I love everything about her. I love that the way she talks about food sounds like prose. I love that she doesn't care how many calories her food contains. That, most likely, she runs towards butter and sugar as opposed to running away from them. That she proudly flaunts her well-endowed body instead of shying away. That she is so effortlessly charming. That she isn't professionally trained but a self made woman. That her cooking style is relaxed and not tensed. That, for her, even garnishing her bowl of spaghetti with herbs is a thing of limitless beauty. That her tv shows always end with her making midnight trips to the refrigerator just like me. Oh, I could go on..!

She's the reason I love to bake and cook. She's the reason I feel like cooking/baking at any given time of the day, no matter how tired I am. She's the reason, something as daunting as a tiramisu, seems so magnificently effortless. She's the reason the simplest of efforts in the kitchen are now a thing of endless joy.

Behind this author of 8 bestselling cookbooks and even more internationally successful TV shows, is someone who's faced more than her share of tragedy. Having lost 3 immediate family members to cancer, has to be mad painful. But she's kept herself strong and even in the face of adversity, she's present in your living room, helping you learn the latest Pavlova and giving you innumerable recipes and reasons to spend memorable times with your loved ones. And that is something, I would truly, truly like to learn from her. :)
