I wondered and I pondered.
Just as we categorize these posts into open, philosophy, poetry etc..it made me think.
How many of us really belong to the open category?
We may be scientific, poetic, spiritual, social.
But open?

I don't mean the 'open' that's the opposite of 'reserved' category.
Or even the 'open' mentioned here on writerbabu.
But the open refreshing variety.
Folk who breeze into a room like a whiff of fresh air.
Spreading their fragrance like jasmine flowers in a woman's hair.

Brave men and women who take enormous risks.
Daring to bare themselves. In full public view.
Folk who are open about their views, their stance on life..dogmatic or pragmatic.
Let's not put 'em away in an attic.

I have met very few open people.
One of them, a woman, so transparent, so guileless.... a child really.
Her openness so bewitching, enchanting and mesmerizing!
She captivated me.

Who wouldn't be enthralled by a heart to heart story?
He speaks from his life experiences.
His facial muscles relax and tighten as he goes into livid details of his own very life.
Not fiction but truth shared in his very unique diction.

Openness makes us vulnerable.
A recipe for disaster, they say.
Wouldn't we grab an innocent kid with its impish smile into our laps?
Aren't they so adorable?
Why do we lose that child like vulnerability to a false, pretentious adult like behavior?

Not many people are open.
They are so used to that mask that hides many an obvious flaw.
I do wish sometimes they'd just uncover themselves before the world.
Have the courage to show what they really are.
