Bit by bit,
Bite by bite,
I grew old,
I lost sight.
I grew wise,
I became scared,
I hid myself,
For none I dared.
I lost jest,
And I lost vigor.
I smiled quite less,
I always sniggered.
I was rich,
I was fun.
As time caught me,
All that was gone.
I prayed for friends,
I prayed for a life.
I got darkness,
When I demanded light.
The flame got doused,
Before the pyre lit.
My soul dissolved,
Bit by bit,bite by bite.
